After Rajasthan, now Gujarat CM Rupani decides against the release of Padmavat

New Delhi, Jan 12: There seems to be no end to the woes of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Magnum Opus Padmavat which had to shed 'i' from the tail on insistence of the CBFC. First it was Rajasthan telling that despite clearance from the CBFC with some changes. Haryana too gave a faint hint, though nothing of this sort was announced.

Now Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial film Padmaavat, earlier called Padmavati, will not release in the state on January 25.

The film, mired in controversy over its plot line, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification, which has asked its makers to change the title and suggested other modifications.

This period drama is base on a poetry by Malik Mohamad Jayasi, according to the makers of this film. Historically it is not prove if a queen named Pamavati ever existed.

The period romance that features Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in lead roles was earlier scheduled to be released on December 1.
