Blue Whale Dare: Two precious lives saved just at the nick of time





New Delhi: This obsession with the deadly game The Blue Whale Dare is catching the fancy of youth across the world. The game which was originated at Russia is proving fatal for innocent youth,mainly in their teens. The game throws a series of challenges and one by one the youth accept these dares at the cost of risking their lives. The game starts by the first dare here a chil has to etch out a whale on his arms by a sharp object and finally he has to take a final dare; that of jumping from a hight. 



The obsession has already took a life in India and the sad part is that two children have been saved just at the nick of the time. 

Apparently playing the infamous online game `Blue Whale challenge, a 13-year-old boy today tried to jump off the third floor of his school here, but fellow students thwarted his attempt, police said.

The boy, student of class VII, climbed the railing of a balcony on the third floor of Chamali Devi Public School at Rajendra Nagar, and tried to jump off, but other students pulled him back, Additional Superintendent of Police Rupesh Kumar Dwivedi said.

The students informed their teachers, who approached the police.



"Initial investigation suggests that the boy had been playing the Blue Whale game on his fathers cellphone for the last couple of days," Dwivedi said.

"We think he was tense in the last couple of days, thinking about committing suicide to accomplish the final 50th task of the game," said the police officer.

Police were thinking of taking the boy to a psychiatrist for counselling, the ASP said.

School principal Sangeeta Poddar said the boy was too frightened after his thwarted suicide attempt. He told the teachers that he had been playing Blue Whale game for the last couple of days.

The macabre game, which is said to have originated in Russia, is suspected to have claimed a teenagers life in Mumbai recently.

The class IX student, apparently a participant in Blue Whale `challenge, jumped to his death from the fifth floor of a building in suburban Andheri in Mumbai on July 29.

Before that a 14-year-old boy from Solapur in Maharashtra, left home yesterday allegedly to complete a "Blue Whale" task, was rescued by the police from a bus to Pune, around 250 km away. "He was on his way to complete a task in the challenge," said a police officer, noting that the boy appeared "lost" and was silent when he was found. The boy's father, a businessman, took him from the police station.
