Chinese electronics company iVOOMi on Tuesday launched "i2" with 3D mirror finish for Rs 7,499 in India. The device comes with features such as "Full View" display and facial recognition and is exclusively available on Flipkart. The smartphone also supports dual active 4G VoLTE connectivity. "iVOOMi 'i2' is a design inspiration with features like face unlock and 3D mirror finish body. We intend to establish a stronger connection with the youth and continue fulfilling their requirements," Ashwin Bhandari, CEO, iVOOMi India, said in a statement. The 3D mirror finish back panel consists of 15 layers of optical coating, the company claimed.
Micromax Informatics, in collaboration with Bharti Airtel, on Tuesday launched its first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone Micromax "Bharat Go" for Rs 2,399. Micromax "Bharat GO", which has a market operating price of Rs 4,399, comes with a special cashback of Rs 2,000 as part of Airtel's 'Mera Pehla Smartphone' initiative. The launch is part of a partnership to bring low-cost smartphones powered by Android Oreo (Go edition) to the Indian market, the company said in a statement. Android Oreo (Go edition) is a configuration of the Android operating system specifically optimised for devices with 1GB RAM or less.
Smartphone maker OnePlus on Tuesday said it made a record sale of its newly-launched OnePlus 6 worth Rs 100 crore within first 10 minutes of its preview sale on Amazon India and its own online store--oneplus.in. Highlighting the enthusiasm of users in the country, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India, told IANS, "We sold last year's flagship--OnePlus 5T worth Rs 100 crore in an entire day of sale whereas this time we did the same in just 10 minutes." The mirror black colour variant of OnePlus 6 saw a higher demand as compared to midnight black version of the device. "OnePlus 6 is our best-ever smartphone and we knew that it will do well. The mirror black variant of OnePlus 6 was more in demand during the first sale," Aggarwal added.
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi will be celebrating its 8th anniversary in coming days with its latest flagship phone which could be called as Mi 8 instead of previously anticipated Mi 7. WhatsApp in its latest update for iOS users has added a new feature allowing users to request their Account information from the messaging app and check data that has been shared and kept by the company. WhatsApp had announced this feature to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regime (GDPR), and will come into effect from May 25. GDPR backs for more control in the hands of the user and demands for greater data privacy of consumers. WhatsApp version 2.18.60 will bring the ‘Request Account Info’ feature and allow users to download their data.
Honor launched two budget smartphones on Tuesday for the Indian market. The smartphones are Honor 7A and Honor 7C which will be exclusively available to Amazon and Flipkart. Both the smartphones were launched in China in March and April. In India, both smartphones have been priced below Rs 10000. This could be Honor's strategy to take on Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 series of smartphones. The two Honor 7-Series smartphones launched are very similar to each other, with slight differences in display size and processor.
Aiming to disrupt India's mid-segment smartphone market, Samsung India on Monday launched four new smartphones in its Galaxy "A" and "J" series with "Infinity Display" -- a bezel-less screen for an immersive viewing experience. "These phones are aggressively priced and with these launches, we will consolidate our leadership position in the Indian smartphone market against the Chinese players," Mohandeep Singh, Senior Vice-President, Mobile Business, Samsung India, told IANS. All the smartphones come with Samsung's "Make for India" feature called "Chat Over Video" that facilitates an uninterrupted and uncompromised viewing experience while chatting.

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is set to launch a smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor on May 29. The device will be priced under Rs 40,000 and could be called "X21", industry sources told IANS on Friday. The device with the industry's first in-display fingerprint scanning technology was "X20 Plus UD" and was unveiled at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2018 (CES) in January. "The first smartphone to feature the in-display fingerprint technology will be announced in the first half of 2018," the company had said in a statement.
