Jayalalithaa’s 6 crore jewellery not to be given to relatives
New Delhi: Late Jayalalithaa’s six crore jewellery will not be given to her relatives as of now as the matter is still pending with the special court in Karnataka.
In 1996, the income tax department had raided the late CM houseand recovered six crore value jewellery including 28 kgs of gold, 10,000 sarees, 750 pairs of shoes, 800 kgs silver, 44 Air Conditioners,and 91 expensive watches.
The then Janta Party leader Subramanian Swamy now BJP MP had fileda case against the late CM for holding property more than her income.The disproportionate asset case is still running in a special courtin Karnataka after Supreme Court’s 2002 order.
The court has seized all the valuables as of now. Now, thedecision of the fate of the jewellery and other valuables will bedecided by the special court.
