Unprovoked firing continues on LoC, one soldier martyred making situation tense

New Delhi: One jawan has been martyred in heavy firing from Pakistan in ceasefire violation. As the situation takes a serious turn, there are two ceasefire violations in last four hours, making the situation tense. Naik Muddasar Ahmed, belonging to Jammu and Kashmir's Tral, lost his life in ceasefire violations by Pakistan on Indian Army posts in Rajouri sector.

In the meantime J&K Deputy CM Nirmal Singh said on ceasefire violation in Poonch and Rajouri, "Heavy firing is on and we are giving a befitting reply to them with our maximum might, " adding, "Militants ke khilaf lagatar operations ho rahe hain aur Kashmir se militancy ke khilaf awaazen uth rahi hain."

Heavy shelling and firing exchanges are on between Indian and Pakistani Army on Monday on the Line of Control (LoC), a defence official said.

Pakistan, initiating the attack, resorted to unprovoked targeting of the Indian positions on the LoC in Bhimber Gali sector of Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said.

"The indiscriminate firing using small arms, automatics and mortars that started from 7.30 a.m. is still on," Mehta told IANS here.

The Indian Army was retaliating strongly and effectively, he added.

A five-year-old girl and a soldier were killed on Monday as Pakistani troops shelled and fired along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the state police said.

The girl, identified as Saida of Balakote in Poonch district, died when she was hit by a Pakistani shell.

After resorting to unprovoked shelling and firing in Bhimber Gali sector of the Line of Control earlier on Monday, the Pakistani troops began heavy shelling and firing in Mendhar and Balakote sectors.

Defence Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Manish Mehta said the firing exchanges are still ongoing.

The Indian Army was retaliating strongly and effectively, he added.
